Creating an LLC or limited liability company in Oklahoma is authorized by the Oklahoma Limited Liability Act. The LLC owners are called members and receive the benefit of limited liability -- like a corporation -- and the tax advantages of an S-corporation or partnership. Oklahoma LLCs are created by filing articles of organization with the Secretary of State’s office. A form is provided for downloading and filing or for submitting online.

Complete section 1 of the articles by inserting the name of your LLC. Oklahoma law states that the name for your LLC must contain the words "limited liability company" or "limited company," or an abbreviation such as "LLC" or "LC." You are permitted to abbreviate the word “limited” to "Ltd.", and the word "Company" to "Co." The name of you LLC cannot be the same as or indistinguishable from the name of any business currently on file with the Secretary of State.
Complete section 2 of the articles by inserting the address for your LLC's principal location in Oklahoma.
Complete section 3 of the articles by inserting the name for your LLC's registered agent for service of process and his registered address. The business office for the registered agent must be identical to the registered address. The office must be open during regular business hours to act as a registered agent for your LLC.
Complete section 4 by inserting the term of existence for your LLC. Oklahoma law permits you state specify a period of time or state that it will continue in perpetuity.
Finalize the articles by dating, signing and inserting your address where indicated at the bottom of the form. Prepare a check for the filing fee, which as of November 2010 is $100, made payable to the Oklahoma Secretary of State. Mail or deliver the articles and check in person to the Secretary of State.
